The Asian Productivity Organisation (APO), established in 1961, is an intergovernmental regional organization serving the Asia-Pacific region. Its mission is to contribute to the socioeconomic development of its member countries and improvement of the quality of life of their people through productivityenhancement. It is a non-political, non-profit making and non-discriminatory.
The present membership of the APO comprises 20 governments: Bangladesh, Cambodia, Republic of China, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan, Republic of Korea, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. The Governing Body is the supreme organ of the APO. It comprises one Director from each member country designated by the respective governments. The Secretary, Ministry of Industries is the APO Country Director for Bangladesh. Besides, there is one APO Alternate Director and one APO Liaison Officer.
